Computer repair can be a tricky subject. So much can happen where one day your computer will work fine, and the next day it will not come on at all. When this happens try not to panic. It can be a simple fix. If you know what some of the easy fixes are then you might be able to have your pc up and running in no time. Here are some common problems that goes wrong with your computer and some cheap computer repair fixes.
In my experience one of the common problems when your computer will not power up it is because of the cmos battery. The cmos battery is the tiny little silver disc, that resembles a calculator battery. To replace the cmos battery you will want to disconnect all electric to your computer and carefully remove the cover. The cmos battery will be in the mother board. Gently take it out not to harm your motherboard and carefully replace it with your new one. Make sure that you put the new battery in correctly you may want to take note on the way the old one is in before removing it so that you put the new one in correctly.
Another easy fix in computer repair, also involves the cmos battery. If for any reason you find yourself locked out of your notebook and you have forgotten your password you can reset it by removing the cmos battery and putting it back in. Working on a notebook however, is a little more dangerous and tricky then a pc. If you find yourself needing to remove the cmos battery in your notebook make sure you remove your power battery and unplug your notebook first to avoid any injury’s.
Sometimes your computer powers on just fine but wont load your operating system. If this happens computer repair is as simple as reinstalling your operating system. Most computers have a disc to do this but be advised if you are reinstalling windows you might have to call Microsoft to get your windows legally activated.
Another simple computer repair is when your power supply stops working. Make sure your unit is unpluged and has no electric going to it. Take off the cover and carefully unscrew the little screws that hold in the old one. You will want to put these little screws somewhere safe. Your new power supply should fit right in where the old one is. If your replacement is the right size. This computer repair takes just a few minutes.

Phishing Attacks — Computer Repair

“Hi, my name is Mr. Rufus Mukhenze, and I would like to send you 21 million dollars.” Does that opening sound familiar to you? It’s the start of what’s called a “phishing” attack, which seeks to steal your bank account information by pretending to be somebody that wants to help you out. In addition to stealing your personal information, many of these attacks include file downloads that, if you run them, will infect your computer and cause you to need online computer repair.

As a rule of thumb to keep your computer healthy and not needing online computer repair, you should never download file attachments in e-mails unless you were expecting to receive them from somebody. Even if the file is from someone you know, it’s possible that it could be a phisher spoofing their e-mail address. In other words–still an attack on your computer that could result in a visit to an online computer repair specialist.

Other examples of e-mails which ask for your information include requests to verify your user name and password, or text that claims you have won a prize and need to click a link to access it. The latter type will often send you to websites which will download Trojans and other viruses to your computer, which you will not be able to get rid of short of using an online computer repair site to clean up your computer.

Tips to remember:
– Never download attachments unless you were expecting to get one.
– Never send anyone your login and password for banking sites or other accounts. If an e-mail sounds authentic, call their customer support line to make sure.
– Double-check to make sure the e-mail isn’t coming from a fake address. (e.g. ebay-admin@someothersite.com)
– If you ever get a virus, visit an online computer repair site.

By adhering to these tips, you can ensure that your computer stays safe and clean and that you won’t need access to online computer repair.

Fortunately, even if you accidentally download something you shouldn’t from one of these e-mails, or if your computer is ever otherwise damaged, online computer repair services can help to get you back up and running.

A guide for safe surf over the internet

The internet is continuing to change at a rapid pace, now more than any other time the levels of identity theft and viruses that are being spread are designed to take over your computer in addition to stealing your identity. In many cases this means that you must have major computer repair done to remove the programs that are allowing criminals to follow you when you are on the internet, however this may clear these programs off of your computer but will not deal with the potential identity theft problems that you could face. To be able to protect your self requires that you use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) this is where you can surf the internet anonymously. What happens is the different web site that you visit and the user names as well as passwords that you use are encrypted so that you personal information on line is never compromised, saving you the aggravation of having to have computer repair done and any identity theft problems. There are several advantages that surfing the internet with a VPN offers such as:

You prevent your boss from knowing where you were on the internet: When you surf the internet at work in most cases they monitor which web sites that you visit. If you visit the more questionable web sites this could ruin your reputation and make you look like you are trouble maker in the eyes of your boss. In some cases your employer may even worry about giving you access to the internet out of fear that you could download a virus causing your employer major computer repair. By using a VPN your employer will never know what web sites you visit and will not have the ability to track your movements on the internet.

You prevent major viruses from shutting down your computer: A common problem that many people encounter online is that when their internet activities are tracked you could have a virus download to your computer with out you even knowing it, then all of the sudden your computer is not working and you have to waste time as well on money having computer repair done to have the machine run normal. By using a VPN the hackers do not know how to track you preventing these viruses from downloading to your computer saving you money on computer repair down the road.

Clearly to be able to avoid major computer repair requires that you surf the internet anonymously. By using a VPN you can prevent your employer from knowing which web site you are visiting and prevent a major virus from shutting down your computer, costing you time as well as money on unnecessary computer repair. This well helps you to surf the internet safely and anonymously.

Proper Positioning of You and Your Computer

Computer users often find themselves with aching backs and arms. As the years pass, these problems grow more and more acute. Thumbs and hands grow numb from overuse. Fortunately, most difficulties from computer use can be solved with the proper placement of the computer and a better alignment of the user to the computer as recommended by a computer repair expert.

The first computer repair expert recommendation will be, place the screen an arm’s length away or more. See if you can read the screen without using the zoom feature. This should take into account your glasses or contacts, if any. If you can read ten-point type at its normal setting and if the screen is an arm’s length away, then that is a good distance.

The Second computer repair expert recommendation will be, make sure the top of the screen is at eye level so that your eyes are able to move up and down while your head remains relatively relaxed. Bending your neck leads to pain in your neck and shoulders. Too low a screen causes people to slump, which contributes to shoulder and back pain. The lower back is particularly vulnerable. A good pillow or chair can help a person ‘relearn’ his position at the computer.

The Next computer repair expert recommendation will be, your chair should be the proper height to allow your feet to be planted on the floor. An adjustable chair with a supportive back cushion will aid in keeping your back straight and supported during work.

Finally our computer repair expert recommendation, adjust lighting so that there is less glare on your screen. Also, check for glare that will be in your eyes when you face your screen. You don’t want to be typing with bright lights or the sun in your eyes.

Remember to check where your arms are in relationship to the mouse and the keyboard. Ideally your hand should be able to rest on the mouse with your wrist resting on the edge of the surface. Many people buy a mouse pad with a wrist rest. Either way, you will save yourself a lot of pain if you can keep your elbows stay at waist height while using the mouse or the keyboard. There are ergonomically designed keyboards and keyboards with extra padding for resting your wrists. If you are already having numbness in your thumb or hands, these would be good investments.

computer repair expert recommend You to check these items on a regular basis. Often our equipment is shoved around by us, family members, cleaning crews at work, and so on. Make a short list and keep it handy. Every week, go down the list and make sure your set-up is optimized. A list would include: screen at eye level, keyboard and mouse allow for good wrist rests, chair at proper height.

Replace your chair if necessary. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Microsoft Excel:

Enter Consecutive Dates into a Series of Cells:
This one is very easy and can become quite useful when trying to outline work for the upcoming week, month or year. Just enter the first date into the common date format (mm/dd/yy) and then move the mouse to the bottom right corner of the cell. You’ll get a small cross, which is known as a Fill Handle and after that, simply click and drag across all of the cells you’d like to fill with the dates. No online computer repair necessary.

Lock Cells from use:
This helps keep you from losing your work by accidentally modifying data that’s already been entered and is especially useful for online computer repair. Highlight the cells you’d like to allow for use, by either holding the Ctrl key and continually highlighting each one, or by clicking on the highest cell while holding the shift key, then clicking on the lowest cell. This will select everything in between. After the selection, go to Format>Cells and under the Protection tab, uncheck the Locked checkbox. Then click OK. Then go to Tools>Protection and select the Protect Sheet option. When it asks for a password it’s just optional, so don’t enter one if you don’t want to. Click Ok. When you try to write in the locked cells there will be an alert message, so realize that you’re not in need of any computer repair.

Microsoft Word:

Turning off AutoCorrections
To turn off this automatic, and sometimes annoying feature, go to Tools>AutoCorrect then click the AutoCorrect tab. There will be a series of options, all of which will have boxes which you can deselect, allowing you to customize them. This is useful for online computer repair. There’s also an AutoFormat As You Type tab under the Tools menu which has a similar option. You can also go to Tools>Options and deselect any boxes for other undesirable automatic functions, like spelling and grammar check

There’s a way to use the arrow keys to move objects very small distances, which is particularly useful for those working from a laptop. Simply select the object and use the arrow keys. This will move the object 1/12th of an inch. Very useful for perfectionists and online computer repair.

It can be frustrating when your computer breaks down and it becomes time to engage a professional in computer repair.

It can become even more frustrating if you do not take the proper steps to secure your information and your computer before you send it off for computer repair.

Many people take information for granted until suddenly one day you get your computer back from the computer repair shop and all of your data is gone and your favorite applications are also gone from your hard drive. Here are some tips about making sure you are always ready in case you need to send your computer off to the computer repair shop. When you organize your data always try and make one main folder and then put all of your important data in subfolders of that main folder. For example, if your name is Tom the on your computer in the main hard drive you should create a folder named Tom. Then when you start to create Word documents you can create a subfolder called Word Documents in your Tom main folder and save all of your data in that folder. The reason for this is because it makes backing up your files so much easier and if you have to send your computer off for computer repair then you will need to back up your files.

On a regular schedule you should back up that Tom folder to some sort of removable media. For many years people would back up their important data to CD media prior to computer repair. Today there are removable USB drives that can hold many gigabytes of information and these are ideal for storing your important files on a regular basis.

Many people simply use the removable USB drive as their main place for storing data and that way they always have a current back up of their data.

When you send your computer off for computer repair there is a chance that the computer repair shop will have to reformat your hard drive in order to properly repair your computer.

When this happens you will lose all of your data including all of the applications you have loaded on your computer. Always have your copy of your operating system handy in case the computer repair shop needs it to reload your operating system and always be sure that every application you put on your computer has a CD or some way of reloading it on to your computer after the computer repair shop has reformatted your hard drive.

Preparing for computer repair is important because the computer repair shop may need to delete all of the files off of your computer in order to fix your machine. To avoid losing all of your data and applications always make sure you have the proper back up files and that you do a regular back up of all of your important data.
